Just remember, the information you will be reading in these articles are the opinions and experiences of the writer, and “like” weeds, “everybody’s got one”.
I, Pete, have turned gardening down here into a war zone. The battle has been costly and $$$, time and with much carnage over the past 10 years. Books and Magazines tend to deal with mass areas (zone 1~11). But what I have experienced is that what grows in Tampa, Fort Myers and just the other side of I75, may not grow well, if at all, in Sarasota. Or, the other side of the fence, grows better.
We are going to start by the ground up with “where the soil, Dorothy?” Obviously in Kansas, because it ain’t here. There is no soil in our soil, unless you happen to live on the east side of I75 on top of a celery field. Being the educated individuals we are, and the fact we have been to the beach, we have determined its sand, sand, and sand. Moss does want to point out it does consist of black flecks and Moss will discuss this, and “ Soil, what soil I don’t see any stinking soil”, next month.
1st of many plantings,
Pete & Moss.
